It is winter in parts of Africa! Lesotho, an enclave tucked within South Africa is one of the few places in Africa that snows. Algeria,Morocco in North Africa and Mount Kilimanjaro also experience snow this time of the year.
Lesotho’s snow is exciting netizens and resorts are exploiting this to market this tiny mountain kingdom in Southern Africa. Afriski mountain resort in Lesotho is creating abuzz on the snow. According to Briefly News an online publication, the resorts’ management in a news release, expressed joy.
We are very excited about the early snow and do welcome our guests and loyal snow enthusiasts back to Afriski this winter. This snowfall marks the beginning of what we anticipate to be a fantastic season.”
The snow forecast shows that the snow is normally expected late July but has now arrived in early June, a phenomenon linked to climate change. This is expected to last to end of August according to Lesotho weather forecast published by OpenSnow on their website .

Lesotho is surrounded by South Africa and according to the WorldAtlas, it is the only country on earth where nowhere is less than a 1000 meters above sea level. More than 80 per cent of the country is located above 1,800 meters thus referred to as the “Kingdom of the Sky”.
It is a scenic land of tall mountains, streams and narrow valleys. It is rich in both water and diamonds.
The South Africa weather service also issued a disruptive snow alert early Tuesday, warning across high lying parts of the western Cape, Eastern Cape and KwaZuku-Natal. Reports show that most homes and roads remained covered in a blanket of white in South Africa too.
